Wind Energy: Mount Bickford

- BC Peace Region. 40km West of Chetwynd.
- Site Description
- This sites comprises Mt. Bickford, which is part of a ridge which runs southeast to northwest. There are valleys that surround the site. The average elevation of the ridge is approximately 1700m. The mean wind speed across the site at a hub height of 65m is expected to range between 8.5 m/s and 9.5 m/s.
- Permit Status
- Granted Investigative Use Permit (IUP) with Integrated Land Management Bureau (ILMB), British Columbia Ministry of Agriculture and Lands. Granted ILMB License of Occupation for meteorological towers to test wind resource. Meteorological tower erected September, 2006. Wind data collection continues.

- 38-100MW
- Project Overview
- Finavera Renewables is focusing its initial efforts in British Columbia on the Peace Region. The wind resource in this area is strong, and the potential for wind power projects is substantial. Several project sites are being developed simultaneously, with the permitting and planning process ongoing. Finavera Renewables is focusing several projects for inclusion in the 2007 BC Hydro call for power.
